flag usa YOUR HISTIO STORY

I am looking for similarities
in all individual cases of
Histiocytic diseases.
I wonder if we all tell our
stories we might come up
with some commonality
between the specific
situations in which all of
our pets got this disease.
So please email me the
details and I'll put your
pets story on Shelley's
Histio Website

flag nl UW HISTIO VERHAAL

Ik ben op zoek naar
overeenkomsten in alle
individuele gevallen van
Histiocytose.
Ik hoop dat wanneer wij
onze Histio verhalen
vertellen, wij overeen-
komsten ontdekken over
de manier waarop onze
huisdieren deze ziekte
hebben opgelopen.
Stuur mij de details en
ik zal het verhaal van uw
huisdier op de Histio
website van Shelley zetten.

Story told by Heidi M.

Auric was born April 2001. He came from Missouri, USA. I drove the 19 hours to pickup my little man. He was a fawn black masked, horsecoat. When I pulled into the parking lot to meet Deb, he was sitting in the grass and just stared at me. His head and expression was the clincher.

#2 in Canada for 2002 Canadian Champion, he more then exceeded my expectations of a true show dog. Never a sick day in his life. When he turned 8 he seemed to go off his food and lumps appeared in the rear inner flank. He was still active. We had him biopsied to see what the lumps were and they came back malignant mass cell cancer, (MH). Within 3 weeks from the biopsy the rear leg metastasized to 3 times the normal size, and lumps started to appear on his neck and underarms.
We started him on prednisone from the beginning of his diagnosis, but he had a hard time tolerating it. By the end of the three weeks it had progressed beyond anything our vet had ever seen. The cancer was so aggressive.

Sadly on Feb 2009 we lost our little man. It happened so fast. So much I wanted to do with him, but I am very thankful that the day before he died I got to show him in a veterans sweeps where he took 3rd place. Ever the show dog, Auric is a huge part of my life even after he has past.

Love you little dude!
