As I had to work during the day and would frequently paint the town by night I decided that Minouschka needed company and thus came Brutus von Bareas, a European Blue Point Siamese. European means he was not as skinny as Siamese cats usually are. He was a cat with an attitude! Unfortunately it was not a match made in heaven. Brutus and Minouschka would nag each other all the time! Brutus was the naughty one, he always attacked Minouschka from an ambush. Needless to say that always made her mad. She once smacked him down the stairs when he ambushed her again and again.

Brutus was a very playful cat. His favorite toy was a thick rubber band. I'd shoot it away and he would apport it like a dog would do. Or he would play with it and finally 'drown' it in his water dish. Unfortunately he did the same with mice. I have found nummerous mice drowned in the water dish...... I must not think of what those unfortunate animals had to go through!

As I worked full time, Brutus would help around the house a lot. He'd go into the laundry room, pick up some drawers or something and drag it down the stairs. He usually placed the item in the hallway. One day I took a guest home and I tell you I wasn't real happy with the "items" Brutus had put in the hallway. Oh boy, I was so embarrassed!

Shortly after we moved to our new house in Doorn, Brutus died of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).
